What MMCA Does

The Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Association is a member-driven association with a full-time staff designed to lead and direct our industry. MMCA and its predecessor organization have been in existence for over 100 years. The Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Association represents contractors involved in all facets of piping throughout Minnesota. It is a non-profit corporation governed by and for contractors. MMCA acts as management representative in negotiations with Minneapolis Pipefitters #539, St. Paul Pipefitters #455, St. Paul Pipefitters #455, St. Paul Plumbers #34, and Minneapolis Plumbers #15. MMCA identifies the training needed most by MMCA members and their staff then hand selects speakers from across the nation to provide the training necessary to make our members the most competitive in the industry. MMCA diligently monitors bills introduced into the legislature and represents the mechanical industry’s interests through lobbying. The MMCA website www.MinnesotaMCA.org combines the Encyclopedia Mechanica, a 1400 page reference library of documents and contracts, with instant industry news and a detailed calendar of meetings, seminars, and events, as well as an index of members searchable by the services each provides. MMCA also provides community services with the Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Mankato, and Rochester pipefitter and plumbers unions. In the fall the mechanical industry holds the “Heat’s On” program providing furnace inspections to low-income seniors and disabled home owners to combat home heating hazards including fire and carbon monoxide poisoning. In the spring the association holds the “Water’s Off” program to repair plumbing problems for low-income seniors and disabled home owners.
